I am both baffled and fascinated by the enigmatic 'it bag' from 2013: the Chanel LEGO...
It was first seen on the spring/summer runway and has quickly become a worldwide showstopper. The LEGO bag has had divided opinions since its catwalk debut, some instantaneously accepted its amusing vibe, and others have criticized it for its far fetched appeal, but one thing is for sure...Chanel got the buzz going!

GREEN CHANEL LEGO is the most circulated
image on social media mediums. Therefore its only appropriate to begin my Lego
documentary with this, LOL…
This page from Glamour magazine still adorns my
office bulletin board with several pushpin tears… an image that was engrained
in our fashion brains last spring.
The bag is crafted from Plexiglas and although it resembles the children's toy, there is certainly nothing child-like about the extravagant price tag. A small box of Lego may set you back about $10 BUT this one requires a few more zeros.
It's only fair that I document my obsession with a detailed picture library of all the options Chanel has created for us.
Usually these fixations of mine don’t end well, at least for my bank balance!
My Purse Forum friends will remember my 2012 elicit affair with the Chanel
sparkle beauty bag ---'Spring Fling with Bling', LOL. This one is as intense but seems to carry on longer as
Karl Lagerfeld continues to illustrate his supreme sense of artistry through
his inventive selections. Who would have thought that fancy plastic could be
created in so many varieties, with the most glamorous ones just now releasing for
fall.
I began to follow these bricks right off the runway and have been enamored by the long list of stylish celebrities that were first seen sporting the plastic creation. Kim Kardashian tweeted out her green one back in April, singer Rita Ora doesn't seem to go anywhere without her red version, and Rihanna has been seen sporting every color cross body from bright yellow to blue!

These limited edition pieces were sold
out during the preorder phase, despite the hefty price tag topping more than
two classic quilted jumbos! Many boutiques only saw a handful of pieces and
Chanel aficionados were lucky enough to catch glimpses at the Chanel trunk
shows or special events. This was one of those ‘you snooze, you loose’ type of
releases…
Since then, I have had lively debates with many
fashionistas who argue a Birkin, a piece of VCA, or even another Rolex
would be a better investment… if only the right side of our brain always
governed our choices!!
I even started a debate @PurseBop to work through the fall options and get my followers feedback on favorites...it went something like this:
“Will she visit me in my dreams again tonight…?”
#currentlyobsessed #mydreambag #mywishlist
#chanellegobag
"It’s the “Game of Thrones’…the war of the
clutches has begun. which LEGO will conquer…"
#obsessed #legoeyecandy #iwantinmycloset
#musthave
“OR is tweed and LEGO my thing…?”
#confusion #obsessedwithlegos #pursecandy #chanelbagaddict
Then came the Chanel ‘Traveling in Space’ fall/winter
look book that had LEGO'S literally featured on every page flying through space! One might think for a moment that Karl's inspiration for his shoot came from my post 'Bopping to the RED PLANET.' (anything is possible, LOL)
Seeing all of my fall favorite LEGO'S moving through space on these pages was further reinforcement that the “it” bag was a must have.
An after thought, but here I photograph my favorite look book pages to 'travel' with you (hehe)...
If this isn’t enough Lego inspiration for you yet, spring/summer runway images of the infamous box have begun to make their appearance…is the LEGO here to stay?

Another Plexiglass obsession of mine, the GLOBE ball inspired by Karl's theme of GLOBALIZATION at the fall 13/14 runway show...

Largefeld’s
inspiration for this ingeniously structured clutch bag is the 'art of
childhood.' Reminiscing about
the good old days seems to really work for him. First the Hula Hoop bag and now the Lego…I
wonder what Karl has in store for us, next in Dallas…???
AND if you are wondering what The Lego
Group has to say about all this hype, naturally they are delighted! PR
spokesperson Emma Owen says: "This new clutch design is flattery in its
sincerest form. We are thrilled to see that our brand, that is typically
synonymous with children, is now inspiring innovative catwalk designs.”
There is something so magical about these... it's PurseBop's kind of whimsy...and these girls seem to think so too! A little 'show off' at the Cartier Queens Cup at Smiths Lawn, Windsor
Stay tuned to @PurseBop (my instagram account) where over the next few days I'll feature several ‘reveal’
pictures shot at the Morton Arboretum’s glass pumpkin festival. PurseBop is in
full AUTUMN mode and so is her upcoming treasure! Its going to be a FFFF = FUN FILLED
FALL FEAST of eye candy!
Love PurseBop
